Rosemarine Yoga

Courtney Bassett, 500ryt

As both a practitioner and a 500 Hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher, I find restoration and wonder in yoga. That it is a continual practice — a humbling and inspiring path to come back to again and again — is one of the ways in which it resonates with me and which I endeavor to share in teaching.

I completed a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training in Brooklyn, New York in 2017 and then a 300 Hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training in Chatham, New York in 2018. The first training deepened my understanding of and appreciation for asana (postures), pranayama (breathing), meditation, and yoga philosophy, particularly the personalized approach of Krishnamacharya-based styles and the teachings of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The advanced training broadened and enriched my practice with an emphasis on the Bhakti tradition and studies of Ayurveda and kirtan (mantra music). A lifelong student of music, I completed a 100 Hour Yoga Alliance certified kirtan training with Gaura Vani & Jahnavi Harrison the following year. Throughout this time, I deepened my personal practice and enhanced my teaching skills through a number of workshops and master classes, as well as private study with Tiffany Marie Chandler.

Let’s practice together!

In teaching, my intention is to create a space for students to tune in and quiet the fluctuations of the mind, to offer a basis for what is experienced in class to be incorporated off the mat as well, and to honor the gifts my many teachers have shared with me by continuing to pass them along.

Contact me to discuss individual instruction and private group classes tailored to your needs. I especially enjoy designing workshops and events that integrate yoga with philanthropic and community engagement, and always enjoy taking the practice outdoors.

You can also find me teaching studio classes at Riverbend Yoga & Meditation Studio in Yarmouth, Maine. My classes are breath- and alignment-focused with options for form so students can prioritize the benefits of the postures in ways that are optimal for them. Vinyasa classes are fluid, intentionally synchronizing breath with rhythmic movement throughout a well-rounded sequence drawn from Ashtanga. Yin sessions guide students to experience deeper inward focus through a series of still, often supported postures engaging the body’s connective tissues.
